NYU Medical Center - On-Call Environmental Services

Borough of Manhattan

Environmental Planning & Management, Inc. (EPM), as an on-call environmental consultant for over 15 years, has worked on over 1800 task orders to date for various projects at the NYU Medical Center Campus and the New York University Campus.  Services provided include lead and asbestos investigations, and lead/ asbestos/mold remediation oversight.  The facilities for which these services have been provided include offices research buildings, hospital buildings and dormitories.

EPM supported several major projects in recent years for the NYU Langone Medical Center, which involved the planned demolition of Rubin Hall and the Perelman Building.  EPM inspectors performed detailed pre-demolition surveys to identify and to sample all suspect asbestos containing materials.

The EPM inspectors documented the test results and locations of all identified ACM in a final survey report for each key investigation.  EPM also supervised each asbestos abatement at these two buildings, and provided a written scope of work for use by the abatement contractor.  EPM monitors collected air samples for lab analysis during each abatement to verify the integrity of the asbestos containment.

As part of the post-Sandy recovery effort, EPM performed numerous surveys to determine potential hazardous material impacts in those buildings in the NYU Langone complex which suffered ground level flood damage.
