Bronx River Greenway-Starlight Park (bronx, ny)

Environmental Planning & Management, Inc. (EPM) prepared a Sampling and Analysis Plan (SAP) to perform environmental sampling at the site proposed for construction of Starlight Park Phase II.

Soil sampling was conducted to provide sufficient data for developing a Remedial Action Plan (RAP) to be followed during construction, providing procedures for handling and disposal of excavated soils, and procedures for site remediation to ensure that future users of the completed park will not be exposed to hazardous materials during operation.

EPM previously performed limited soil sampling from geotechnical borings across the project site in 2005 on behalf of NYSDOT.

Term Contract (various boroughs, nyc)

EPM performed hazardous materials investigations at various retaining walls throughout the metropolitan area, being impacted by planned rehabilitation.

When all data was reviewed and compiled, EPM prepared a final report for each site summarizing the locations and quantities of ACM, and lead-based paint. Several surveys included sampling and analysis of suspect PCB materials. Soil and groundwater sampling was performed at one location.

EPM provided recommendations as to the proper handling and disposal of all hazardous containing materials impacted by proposed rehabilitation.

The retaining walls surveyed for this term agreement are located at:

  • Queens— 71st Ave and Cooper Ave

  • Brooklyn—Jackie Robinson Pkwy near Cypress Hills Cemetery, North Conduit Avenue, and Highland Blvd

  • Bronx—Conner Street Bulkhead, Palisades Avenue by Half Moon Overlook, and 168th Step Street between Teller and Clay Avenues

  • Manhattan—Edgecomb Ave between W 165 St. and W 168 St.
